How to get the most out of Swilly

Nine quick things worth knowing before your first game. Start here.

New to Swilly? These are the things that make it click.

  1. Works on any device. Swilly runs in your browser, so it works on whatever you’ve got: iPad, Android tablet or laptop. Nothing to install.
  2. Use a tablet, not a phone. Swilly is built for a tablet held in landscape on the sideline, and that’s how it’s meant to be used. A phone screen is too cramped to log quickly during live play, so we really don’t recommend it. Track down a tablet if you can, it makes all the difference.
  3. Practice with a Scrimmage first. Want to get comfortable before it counts? Create a game under Games, set the type to Scrimmage and log away. Nothing from a scrimmage ever touches your real season stats.
  4. Give one person the logging. Pick a dedicated stat-keeper for each game. Stats are only worth having when they’re captured the same way every time, and one steady hand does that.
  5. No internet, no problem. Swilly logs everything on your tablet even with no signal, then syncs it all the moment you reconnect. A flaky field connection never costs you a play.
  6. A full stat sheet, your way. You get the complete box score, sliceable by game, tournament or season. It’s all there to dig into.
  7. The real magic is Insights. Swilly reads your games and writes up the key takeaways for you, so you never have to crunch the numbers yourself. It’s the read a good captain gives in the huddle, generated automatically.
  8. Insights kick in after 3 games. They compare a game against the rest of your season, so they start showing up once you’ve logged 3 completed games. Keep logging and they fill in.
  9. Shareable player cards. After a game, Swilly builds Instagram and Reels-friendly cards for your standouts, so it’s easy to shout out the players who showed up.
